Personal Tax
Looking after your own tax affairs is time consuming and complicated. Knowing you pay the right amount of tax at any given time gives you peace of mind. This area of taxation covers a wide range of tax revenues. The list includes income tax, inheritance tax, capital gains, trusts and PAYE if you have a part-time job.
Personal Tax Allowance
This is the amount of tax-free income you are entitled to in a financial year. Rules on this change from time to time. Currently the standard figure in England is £12,570 which means you can earn this and pay 0% tax, after which the basic rate of tax is 20%. The 20% figure is applicable to earning from £12,371 to £37,700.

Help with HMRC
It can also mean preparing tax returns for HMRC, such as your Self-Assessment if you’re self-employed and have several paid PAYE roles in addition to be self-employed, which can be complex. We can help with capital allowances, expenses and working out your National Insurance contributions. Our team will also assist with the preparation of your tax return, and submitting your return to HMRC.
The good news is we can also help find the right allowances and reliefs, helping you plan your finances through proper and accurate planning. We can also act on your behalf with HMRC, which saves you lots of time.
Advice on Payment Dates
With a number of deadlines and dates taking place during the financial year, clear and accurate advice on payment due dates is given. The main deadline for personal tax returns is 31st January each year.

How long do I need to keep Personal Tax Records?
The best advice comes from HMRC itself, which currently states that you must keep your records for at least 5 years after the 31st January submission deadline of the relevant tax year. HM Revenue and Customs may check your records to make sure you’re paying the right amount of tax.
Personal Tax Summaries
HMRC issues personal tax summaries, confirming how much tax and National Insurance you’ve paid during a tax year. This summary will show how the Government has spent your tax. Items your personal tax summary shouldn’t include are VAT, Stamp Duty, fuel, inheritance tax, capital gains and similar allowances.

Capital Gains Tax
This type of tax is only payable on your overall gains above your tax-free allowance, called the Annual Exempt Amount. Capital Gains Tax, or CGT, is charged if you sell, exchange or dispose of an asset and make a profit or gain. CGT is payable on disposals of assets here in the UK and anywhere else around the globe. CGT might also be payable even if you give an asset as a gift to someone, although there are different rules on relief, exemptions and taxes on any profits made. Central Government has slashed the allowance for this for 2023 and 2024 and there are various rates of tax that apply.
